As promised, Word and PDF versions of the 2016 Tour des Marches Event Rules and Entry Form are now available on the appropriate page (see above).
A reminder that online entry is now available via:
Tour des Marches Online Entry at SiEntries
(Online entry system provided by SPORTident UK)
You'll be asked for certain details in order to create a Login, but as you'll see from exploration of their website, the variety of outdoor events using their system is considerable and it does simplify entering events that use a pre-entry system.
It's not for everyone and I'm sure that the local Felhampton postman will look forward to delivering a number of entry envelopes to Tour des Marches HQ.

It's Sunday 11 September 2016, for the Tour des Marches Challenge Walk
Sunday 11th September, 2016
A wedding booking at the Wistanstow Village Hall, means this year we've had to resort to a Sunday for our walk through the Welsh Marches. Congratulations to the couple in question from all at Tour des Marches HQ. We do wonder if they’d like a walk the next day?
Especially for the 10th edition, you can enter
electronically via the Sportident website.
Meanwhile, for those who prefer
the fast disappearing world of doing things, ‘old school’, the Event Rules and Entry Form will magically appear on here
in a few days.

2015 Finishers List and Report
The 2015 Finishers List is now on the appropriate page - see above
Well done everyone, thank you for entering the Tour des Marches Challenge Walk (Wistanstow) we hope that you enjoyed it, once again we know that some of you exceeded your personal goals.
Here's Phil's brief report on the 9th Tour des Marches Challenge Walk:
Well done everyone, thank you for entering the Tour des Marches Challenge Walk (Wistanstow) we hope that you enjoyed it, once again we know that some of you exceeded your personal goals.
For the fifth year running we achieved a full entry, we also
managed to arrange the weather again!
As always spirits seemed to be high with lots of stories of
people pulling together to help each other along, which is what it’s all about.
If any of you have any tales to tell please get in touch. We
gathered a few comments at the end which we will place onto the website.
During the next week or so the South Shropshire Journal and
the Ludlow Advertiser will carry some pictures and a small report. Pictures may
also appear at some point on www.wistanstowwalk.blogspot.co.uk
The organisers would like to thank, Britpart Ltd, Craven
Arms; Outdoor Depot, Church Stretton; Woods Brewery, Wistanstow; Wenlock Water,
Wolverton; Hough & Son (Butchers), Church Stretton; Post Office, Craven
Arms; the ladies of the Village Hall Committee who baked such nice cakes, our
super volunteers, the landowners on route and the Firefighters at Clun and
Bishop’s Castle for their support and assistance. If you visit any of these
places please thank them.
The first finishers were Mel Price (Woolston) and Virgil
Barton (High Ercall) in 4hrs 22mins. John Taylor (Wheaton Aston) came in third
on 4hrs 41mins just pipping Shaw Pye and Simon Gregg by 1min!
Mel was of course first lady, Kim Braznell (Stourbridge) was
next in 5hrs 31mins, followed 20 mins later by Louise Dermont (Shrewsbury).
24 men managed to complete within 6hrs 30mins, and 14 ladies
made it within 7hrs 30mins. Well done all.
We are desperately trying to source another mini bus having
lost the use of our original vehicle. If anyone can help please get in touch!
Finally a plea for help, we desperately need more helpers,
especially at the start, if you think you may like to put something back or
know of someone who could assist please let us know.
Hopefully we (you) have raised some money for the Village
Hall and the Firefighter’s Charity, and hopefully we can do it all again next
year! See you then.

Saturday Forecast
According to the BBC website (updated by them at 22.07):
This been Shropshire and the border land (Marches), I personally always check the weather by sticking my head out of the window and seeing if it comes back in wet.
A friendly note; hill country frequently has a climate all its own, not necessarily what the Met Office predicts.
Good luck everyone, we hope you enjoy your day.
It would appear that rain overnight will clear early morning.

Email issues and apology
I apologise to anyone who’s emailed us and received no reply – such emails have
never reached our eyes.
Whilst I’ve managed to access a few emails this year (In previous years we've not had many), I’ve been made aware of a couple of emails that have been sent and remain unanswered (never seen) and I regret that there may well be a few others. As a consequence, please note that the email address: wistanstowwalk@yahoo.co.uk is no longer in use.
They probably sit on a Yahoo server somewhere in a foreign land; I’m just sorry that despite my best efforts, I’m unable to retrieve them. There are only so many hours that you can spend reading ‘Help Forums' and following instructions that don’t achieve anything; except that is to increase my blood pressure. Perhaps the email address took offence at the event name change to ‘Tour des Marches’?
With this year’s publicity just quoting the email address: pclarke677@btinternet.com, I hope the annoyance caused by the old email address is minimal.
